ART SPEAKS hosts a series of art classes and pop-ups designed to remove barriers to your creativity using fun, no judgements, and a mindful and intuitive approach.
Wherever you are on your creative journey, your art speaks your voice.
Your creative guide and host, Awia, has worked in multiple design disciplines.
Her approach is to create a relaxed, inspiring, and encouraging environment.
Art guidance and direction is given where required, and students are encouraged to learn new ways to look at their surroundings and subject matter.
Classes are held in the DISPLAY ROOM in the stunning Coffs Harbour Botanic Gardens.
Each session has a central theme and attendees choose from a selection of visual references to take in their own creative direction.
Past themes include Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keefe, Terrible Art, Dali, Mermaids & Sirens, Abstract Flowers, Beautiful Bark, and goddesses of Spring.
Materials and media vary each session – charcoal and markers, acrylic paints on canvas, a kit of bush sticks, or painting underglazes onto ceramic plates or cups.

Tickets include all art materials, sips, bites, and creative references to inspire you.
We offer Pop Up art class experiences in various creative locations.
Subject matter varies – from a decorative still life, to being immersed in Nature.
These pop ups are designed to include an experiential component as part of your art class.
It may include a walk along a bush track, or sketching plants in a nursery, or exploring an interesting locale.
Beginners and artists at all stages are welcome.
Tickets include all art materials, sips, and bites.
We also organize Pop Up sketch groups of 6 people in local venues. A sketch book & markers are supplied. Great coffee or a glass of wine is also included.

Awia's visual arts background includes graphic design for multi-disciplinary clients: children’s educational publishing, print design campaigns for advertising and NFP, cook book design, and page design for fashion magazines.
Her love of music led to working for Sydney's Drum Media indie music press and designing record covers for EMI Music.
A food lover with a passion for food and food stories, evolved into a self-published a book of recipes and interviews recorded on a soul food journey around parts of the USA. As a portrait painter, her artwork has been exhibited in a solo exhibition in Sydney, and locally at Alykat Gallery in Coffs Harbour.
